My wife and I are members of Main Street Christian Church in Rushville, Indiana. I have been married to my wife Christina (Chris) for 49 years, and we have two daughters, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
My past services to the Lord’s work include teaching Sunday School for seniors for 11 years, gratefully serving as a Deacon and then as Elder for 35 years and serving as an Elder Chairman for four years. I had been a Missions Deacon and Missions Elder for many years.
I am retired from the concrete construction lightweight aggregate industry having a total of 50 years of experience in quality assurance, production and sales for the road building, bridge and high rise construction and related industries. I have written a Midwest syndicated outdoor hunting and fishing column for 34 years and have published my first book. I served in the Army National Guard for 6 years from December 4, 1969 to December 4, 1975. My I achieved the rank of Sergeant E-5 and I served as a helicopter crew chief and as Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Training for Company E 738th Division Helicopter Tactical Air Maintenance Group.
I first became acquainted with Yvon Selin when he moved here with his wife Claudie and their three small children from Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Rush County in order for Yvon to attend the Cincinnati Bible College. Yvon and his family attended the church in Moscow where we became good friends. He was sponsored by the late Don & Sue Miller who furnished Yvon’s school expenses, housing and all living and travel expenses for him and his family during his studies at the Cincinnati Bible College. Following his graduation, he was ordained and returned to Haiti to preach the Gospel, save the lost, plant churches and work for Christ’s Kingdom.
My first trip to Haiti was in 2006 not long after NATO troops entered the country to reestablish law and order after Aristide fled the country and the government collapsed. Don Miller and I went to Haiti for the dedication of the Church at Carrefour. Since then, I have made seven more mission trips to Haiti to work with Yvon and the Global Christian Mission Outreach’s churches and schools.
Yvon asked if I would investigate forming a 501c3 for Global Christian Mission Outreach. Our dream of having a NGO didn’t fully emerge until April of 2018 just shortly before we had our first GCMO Board of Directors meeting.
Yvon asked if I would be willing to serve as President and Chairman of the Board for the organization, and I agreed.
Global Christian Mission Outreach now has eight churches in Haiti as well as two Christian schools educating and feeding lunch to more than 650 children.
